North Kashmir’s restive Palhallan village simmered in rage on Thursday afternoon after forces cordoned off one Mohalla forcing local boys to resist the move, locals said.

“At around 3:30pm, a joint party of police, paramilitary and RR troopers showed up in Hajam Mohalla and laid a cordon,” the locals told Kashmir Life. “The local boys resisted the move by pelting stones at forces.”

In an ensued street clashes, the forces had to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd. Many are feared injured in the clashes. “The forces also fired a barrage of bullets in air, creating chaotic scenes in the area.”

Despite repeated calls to Pattan Police Station, no call was answered.
