MLA Langate Er Rashid Tuesday asked New Delhi to introspect its Kashmir policy and acknowledge the dispute of J&K.

Speaking at a condolence meet at Audoora Mawar while offering his condolence to the family of Tariq Ahmad Mir who had drowned yesterday at Sombal, Er Rashid said that it needs to be analysed and introspected that while army, police and other security organizations were celebrating the death of hardcore militant Tariq, common masses in general and people of Mawar area in particular in thousands were mourning the death of the militant and their faces were reflecting the love and faith for the slain militant.

“Everybody has full right to differ with the ideology and style of operating of militants but the huge gap between the viewpoint of those celebrating death of a hardcore militant and those seeing him as a martyr needs to be understood. It is obvious that whosoever speaks for resolution of Kashmir issue touches heart and mind of majority of Kashmiris and GoI cannot simply run away from the facts by celebrating the deaths of militants. Whosoever speaks for the resolution of the Kashmir issue needs to understand fully that it is the militants who reminded Kashmiris of the broken promises of Indian leadership and not those who were one way or the other part of the same system which they are abusing now,” Rashid said in a statement.

Er Rashid repeated that whenever all the parties meet each other with sincerity at the table of the dialogue, sacrifices of Kashmiris especially militants cannot be ignored, though one may differ with militants for taking up to arms.

He further added “without including militant leadership into meaningful dialogue no solution could be found to the Kashmir dispute. Huge participation of thousands of people in the funeral procession of Tariq authenticates that people have voted for Sadak, Paani and Bijli and casting votes in huge percentage in any election should not be accepted as an argument to believe that Kashmiris have accepted India’s stand on Kashmir.”
