Rebutting the media reports claiming the surrender of Hizbul Mujahideen commander and Burhan Wani’s comrade, Tariq Pandit, both army and police are maintaining that they have no information about any such development.

Earlier reports started making rounds that top Hizb commander, a cousin of slain Naseer Pandit of Pulwama’s Kareemabad has surrendered before police in wee hours today. Some reports even said that Pandit surrendered before army.

However, when Kashmir Life contacted additional SP—who has been quoted in some reports, said, “We don’t know about any such development.”

Meanwhile, SP Pulwama, Rayees Mohammad Bhat while talking about the reports, said, “We have no such reports of surrender by anyone.”

On their part, army also refuted the surrender reports, saying they have no information about the development. “No militant has surrendered before army in Pulwama,” NN Joshi, army PRO told Kashmir Life. Even army’s Victor Force based in Pulwama rebutted the surrender reports, saying: “Reports of Tariq’s surrender are absolutely baseless.”

Pandit was seen in pictures on social networking sites along with Burhan Wani in recent past.
