Radisson Blu, an upper upscale brand for Radisson Hotels that operates a chain of hotels worldwide is all set to make inroads in Kashmir. The brand known to create iconic buildings with individual interiors offering a holistic hospitality experience will foray into valley with two properties set to open in 2016.

The properties are coming up in Srinagar and Tangmarg.

The properties are being developed by the local MTC group who own the renowned Grand Mumtaz Hotel in Srinagar. The group has reportedly signed the management agreement with Radisson Blu to manage both properties.

Radisson Blu flagship properties can be found in prime locations, including major cities, airport gateways and leisure destinations around the world.

Apart from Srinagar, MTC group has hotels in Tehri, Katra, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg.

Chairman, MTC group, Mustaq Chaya was quoted saying the total cost of both projects is Rs 300 crore, Rs 150 crore each.

While the Tangmarg property will have 150 rooms, he said, the Srinagar Radisson Blu will have 153 rooms.

This property which was originally a royal palace will also have 10 Heritage Suites which will open first in 2015, Chaya said.

Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts, part of the Rezidor Hotel Group, currently operates more than 230 hotels worldwide, with another 51 projects under development. It is a first class full service hotel brand with key differentiators such as “the 100% Guest Satisfaction Guarantee and the Yes I Can! spirit of service.”

Radisson Blu, an upper upscale brand for Radisson Hotels, primarily operates outside the United States, including those in Europe, Africa, and Asia. These are operated by Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. Together, Carlson and Rezidor have hotels in more than 90 different countries, 1,070 hotels in operation and 240 hotels under development.

After Radisson Blu’s foray into valley, it is expected, more hotel brands will follow to make the region a safe investment destination.
