Pro-Freedom leaders across the ideological divide Friday condoled the death of mother of senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah who passed away this morning.

According to press releases of the Hurriyat groups, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Friday organized a condolence meeting, presided over by Moulana Muhammad Abdullah Taari.

During the meeting, Moulana Taari while paying glorious tributes to the deceased highlighted her contribution to the freedom movement of Kashmir and said her sacrifices stand outstanding and noteworthy.

“The pro-freedom fraternity is grieved over her loss. She exhibited utmost patience and steadfastness during the aftermath of the 1974 Indra-Abdullah Accord and encouraged the pro-freedom people that time. Despite her son Shabir Ahmad Shah’s continuous detention for 27 years, she didn’t lose heart and continued to extend her love and support to freedom loving people. She will always be remembered by the nation,” Moulana Taari said.

The meeting also maintained that the Taaziya Majlis will be for only three days. As such, the final condolence meeting will be held at deceased’s ancestral house at Iqbal Abad, KP Road, Islamabad on Sunday.

Hurriyat-M

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed his grief and sorrow over the demise of the mother of head of Democratic Freedom party, Shabir Ahmad Shah. The deceased also happened to be the close relative of Hurriyat (M) media advisor Shahid-Ul-Islam.

Extending his sympathy and solidarity, Mirwaiz has condoled with the bereaved family including Shah and Shahid-Ul-Islam.

Paying rich tributes to the deceased for her contributions towards the freedom struggle during her whole life, Mirwaiz said, “Her husband Ghulam Mohamamd Shah was martyred under the custody by the Indian troops while her son, Shabir Ahmad Shah spent years behind bars for demanding right to self determination.”

While offering his tributes, Mirwaiz prayed that may Allah rest the soul of the deceased in peace and give the bereaved the strength to bear this loss.

Meanwhile, a delegation of senior Hurriyat (M) leaders including Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War and Yasmeen Raja visited the bereaved family in Islamabad and expressed their condolence, solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.

JKLF

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Friday expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of mother of Hurriyat Conference JK Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah.

On hearing the sad news of demise of Shah’s mother, Malik along with senior leader’s Noor Mohammad Kalwal and Altaf Khan visited Islamabad and participated in the Jinaza of the deceased.

“After the Jinazah and burial JKLF leader’s visited the residence of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. Paying rich tributes to the deceased Yasin sahib said that the sacrifices of the deceased and his family will always be remembered. Yasin sahib while praying for the heavenly abode for the deceased mother also prayed for Sabr-i-Jamil of her bereaved family,” the statement said.

National Front

Jammu Kashmir National Front Chairman and Hurriyat (JK) leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan condoled the death of the mother of Freedom Party and Hurriyat (JK) head, Shabir Ahmad Shah.

In a statement, the party said Khan led a party delegation to Islamabad and participated in the Nimaz-e-Jinazah of the deceased.

In his condolence message Khan said that the deceased lady was a great soul who always prayed for those busy in the freedom struggle and she considered every freedom loving youth as her son.

“The deceased was a victim of state terrorism as her husband is the first victim of custodial killings. Her husband and Shabir Shah’s father was martyred in custody in early nineties,” he said and prayed for the deceased soul.
