Srinagar police have solved a hit and run case by arresting the accused driver within two days, a statement said on Monday.

During the intervening night of 26 and27 February, a Honda City vehicle bearing registration number DL3CY/1607 driven “negligently and rashly” by Mudasir Nazir Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat resident of Shalpora Aloochi Bagh hit an Alto car bearing registration number JK05B/7027 on Saida Kadal Bridge.

In this accident a lady Naseema Begum wife of Abdul Gani Shah resident of Dooru, Sopore died on spot while two other persons Ahtisham Shah son of Meerak Shah and Amir Shah son of Abdul Gani Shah were seriously injured.

Later on Ahtisham Shah resident of Dooru, Sopore succumbed to his injuries on February 28.

Police had already registered a case FIR number 28/2015 under section 279, 337, 304 A RPC in Police Station Nigeen.

During the investigation of the case, it was found that accused Mudasir Nazir Bhat had taken the Honda City car from one of his friend Umar Nabi Wani son of Ghulam Nabi Wani resident of Saderbal and was driving the car at a very fast speed on wrong side of Saida Kadal Bridge. He was accompanied by Dawood Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Aloochi Bagh. The accused was moving towards Hazratbal during the mid of night.

Police said that the accused driver has been arrested and further investigation is on.
