While accusing state police of “framing an innocent” Bandipora man in a “concocted case”, MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed Wednesday said police have turned JK into a “Gunda state through lain dain”.
The Congress MLA was speaking during the Zero Hour of the Lower House.
“Police often turned up in villages and unnecessarily harass the villagers to mint money from them,” Majeed said. “Recently a Bandipora man, namely Abdul Hamid Khan was detained by police and subsequently handed over to SOG that badly tortured the man.” The former government gunman turned legislator said the SOG and police demanded some Rs 3 lakh from the man, which he was unable to pay.
“When I raised the matter with concerned SP, he shifted him to the police station,” Majeed said. “But even then, his ordeal didn’t end. Now, police is framing the innocent in a concocted case.” Before concluding his speech, Majeed shouted, “Police is running a drug trade in the state.” While supporting Majeed, the communist leader, MY Tarigami termed the matter serious without any “ambiguity” and demanded quick action by government.
The minister Abdul Haq Khan assured the MLA Bandipora that Govt will examine the case and will take action, if the allegations were found true.
