Police on Monday registered a case against a Facebook page over posting a baseless report in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior police official told GNS that following a complaint, a case was registered against a Facebook page namely ‘Pulwama 24*7’.”This page had reported a false report of molestation of a girl student by a Principal of a government school,” the official said.
The page, according to the official, posted a report that the principal of Government Higher Secondary School Newa molested an eleventh class student, which is absolutely baseless.
The father of the girl, who was mentioned in the report, also rejected the report posted by the said page. “This is a baseless report. Nothing of that sort happened,” he told GNS.
“Basically, my daughter had approached principal for leave but the principal scolded her for approaching him instead of her teachers,” he said.
The police official, who spoke to GNS, said the father of the girl exchanged some heated arguments with the principal after his daughter apprised him about principal’s answer to her over granting of leave.
Meanwhile, the Station House Officer, Pulwama, Reyaz Ahmad said the police is trying to arrest the administrator of ‘Pulwama 24*7’ page as soon as possible. “I have reported to cyber cell as well,” he told GNS, adding the allegations of molestation against the principal are wrong.
He informed the case has been registered under FIR number 247/2014 66 IT act, 500 RPC.
