Police Tuesday claimed that it apprehended a Hizb militant from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Additional SP Kulgam Shabir Nawab told CNS that Nawaz Najar son Abdul Hamid Najar, a resident of Harmeen Shopian had joined Hizbul Mujahideen outfit some six months ago.

“After receiving inputs, police raided a house at Hardah Hanjan Yaripora village and got the militant arrested,” he said adding that the detained militant was involved in a rifle snatching incident in Kulgam district.

Another police official said that three hand grenades, 18 rounds of AK-47 rifle and a copy of Holy Quran was recovered from the possession of the militant.
