Independent legislator Er Sheikh Abdul Rasheed Monday lashed out at Ms Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks “comparing Kashmiri Muslims with the cats and Pandits with the pigeons”.

“She has lost the credibility as the report of magisterial probe of Handwara killings is yet to come despite many assurances,” Rasheed said in a statement this evening.

As soon as the Finance Minister started his budget speech, Rasheed interrupted him and asked government to clear its stand on Handwara killings.

Rasheed shouted at CM Mehbooba saying, “I want to remind you that today is the anniversary of Asiya and Neelofar and it was you who used to accuse NC of shielding the murderers of Asiya and Neelofar but now when you are in power, you seem to have promised to do worst with Kashmiris. Why have you put Muhammad Yasin Malik behind bars since last five days without a reason and why don’t you justify what is his fault and where are your claims about politics being battle of ideas?”

He asked Mehbooba that she was “right in calling Kashmiri Pandits as pigeons, as pigeons can move everywhere and can’t be controlled by humans”.

“So, they fled the valley,” he added.

“Similarly, you have treated Kashmiris like cats as cats can’t move beyond their court yards and you have let forces free to act like wolves and they kill Kashmiris at will and places of their choice,” Rasheed added.

Rasheed asked Speaker that his “own credibility has become questionable as he had promised to submit magisterial probe of Handwara killings within two days before the House” which he failed.

Rasheed told BJP members who called “Hurriyat leaders as brokers”, “You need not to forget that you own darling Sajad Lone’s brother is one of the brokers and late Lone Sahib had been the most prominent Hurriyat leader”.

Rasheed was later Marshalled out of the lower house.
