The state police chief K. Rajendra while reviewing the security scenario here ahead of the first phase of state elections stated that the people must participate in the democratic process sans any fear.

According to the reports received by KNS, The Director General of Police (DGP) K. Rajendra while presiding over the security meet held here at PCR on Monday stated that all the adequate security arrangements have been put in place t ensure smooth conduction of state elections with the police making it a priority to make sure that people cast their votes during the first phase in peaceful and safe situation.

The DGP was also briefed about the security situation being put in place at various parts of the state wherein polls are being held on November 25 the first phase. During the meet that witnessed the participation of various security agencies operating in valley including CRPF, armed wing of the state police, intelligence agencies and others, DGP has ensured the people to use their democratic rights sans any fear and  that police has taken all the adequate security arrangements to ensure peaceful conduction of the polls.

Mr Rajendra, later confirmed to KNS that a high level security meet has taken place at Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar wherein various security agencies took part. He said that a similar meet was held in Jammu earlier during day.  DGP maintained further that no person shall be allowed to disrupt the poll process in Jammu and Kashmir and that stern action shall be taken against all those elements which would try to stop people from exercising their right.

15 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir are going for polls on November 25 with around 123 candidates in the election fray.
