In North Kashmir’s Kupwara, police are investigating a case of molestation against the ruling coalition partner, PDP’s ‘Halqa’ president.
According to police sources, a lady (name withheld) lodged a complaint accusing Shabir Ahmad Lone s/o late Mohammad Yusuf Lone and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat alias Fayaz Battery, both residents of Kupwara’s Herri Bala for molestation.
Lone has been identified as PDP’s Halqa president.
“A lady filed a complaint against the duo in which investigation is going on,” a police official of Kupwara station said, adding, “the lady has charged the duo of outraging her modesty while she was alone at her home a few days ago around 3pm.”
Local sources informed Kashmir Life that the lady shouted for help alerting her neighbours who prevented the heinous crime.
Police have filed FIR in the case under sections, 511, 451 (attempt to rape).
“The duo had approached court for bail but were denied,” a local said.
Meanwhile PDP’s Rajya Sabha member from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Life that the accused PDP member, Shabir Lone isn’t PDP’s Halqa President, “but simply a party voter, who has shifted his loyalties to NC now.”
