A day after when Ministry of Home Affairs, government of India told parliament that there is proposal under consideration for the settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in exclusive townships in valley, Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday said that it is the “victory of the endeavour, unity and brotherhood of the Kashmiri nation and defeat for the communal mindset”.

“One day the government of India will similarly shun its rigid and stubborn stand with regarding to the Kashmir issue and will accept the reality and on that day they would be left with no other option other than to provide the right to self determination for the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” a spokesperson of the amalgam said.

Welcoming return of the Kashmiri Pandits, the Hurriyat said that they are integral part of our society and “we assure them that they are very safe in the neighbouring of their Muslim brothers and they will live with dignity in their homeland”.

Hurriyat spokesperson, in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, said, “the cancellation of the separate townships is not the victory or defeat of any particular section of the society but it is the victory of the centuries old brotherhood of the whole Kashmiri Nation. Kashmir is not any Hindu-Muslim dispute but it is the issue of the right to self determination of a nation in which Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist and Christen live like brothers.”

“All the formalities regarding to the separate townships were completed from Delhi to Srinagar and Mufti Sayeed had also assured the allotment of land to the Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh but the united stand of the resistance leadership over this issue dissipated the Israeli pattern of policies of the New Delhi and they now understood that the entire Kashmiri nation including the Pandit brothers will not allow anybody to divide the state on religious lines,” the statement said.

“U-turn of the Indian government regarding the separate homeland has strengthened the resolve of the Kashmiri nation and their trust got further firmer that one day the rulers of India will announce in the parliament that Kashmiris will be given their right to self determination, the statement added.
