Srinagar: Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that media speculations with regard to Gilgat-Baltistan are a result of either misconceptions or misinterpretations.

In a communiqué to Muhammad Yasin Malik, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, a copy of which lies with Kashmir based news agency CNS, Pakistan Prime Minister has said that he would to make it unambiguously clear that Pakistan is fully aware of the sensitivities attached to Gilgat-Baltistan with regard to Jammu Kashmir dispute. “The reforms intended in Gilgat-Baltistan are aimed at empowering the people of this region and giving them a greater say in their governance,” The letter addressed to Muhammad Yasin Malik reads.

“I would like to assure you that Pakistan will never compromise on its principled stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which is based on the UN Security Council resolutions. Nor with Pakistan taken any measure that may cause harm to the valiant struggle of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, for their inalienable right to self determination, promised to them by the UN Security Council resolutions,” the communiqué reads.

“You may rest assured of Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic and political support for the just resolution of the Kashmir issue, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of its people,” Nawaz Sharif said.
