Police Sunday refuted the news carried by section of media that “operation was called off in Urvan hamlet of Pulwama due to stiff resistance by the protesters.

Terming the information as baseless, Police spokesman said that “Pulwama Police along with 55 RR and 183 CRPF launched a Cordon and search operation (CASO) at Urvan. Search was conducted without any difficulty and after completing search, CASO was closed.”

He said that “at the time of withdrawal minor stone pelting took place which was handled with due care by Law and Order components as per the SOP. After warning the miscreants a couple of smoke shells were used to disperse the miscreants and no injury to any one has been reported.”

The spokesman added that police has registered the case and “legal action has been taken against the stone pelters who had every intention to disrupt the operation.”
