Responding to the statement made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress party Wednesday said that Omar owes his stature to former CM.

Pertinently, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during an election rally at Rajouri had accused Azad of fueling communal hatred and regional frenzy in the state in 2008.

In a statement to CNS, Congress party said that without the consent of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Omar would have never dreamt of being the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. “Had there been no Azad Sahab, Omar would have never dreamt of being MLA of Ganderbal, not to speak of being the CM of Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement reads.

The statement adds that the scathing attack on Azad speaks of Omar’s frustration as his party is losing ground in all the constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir.
