Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Thursday, filed nomination from Beerwah Assembly constituency in Budgam district for the upcoming assembly polls in the state.

Reports reaching Srinagar said that a considerable number of people were present on the occasion raising pro-NC and pro-Omar slogans.

“Omar addressed huge gathering of people after filing the nomination papers,” reports said.

Abdullah represents Ganderbal in the outgoing assembly. He did not choose to contest from the ensectral segment and filed nomination papers from Beerwah today. He will be also contesting from Sonewar segment in Srinagar district.

National Conference flags decorated both sides of the road from Narbal to Beerwah  as Omar interacted with people along the way.

Omar stepped beyond the security protocol to mingle with the enthusiastic supporters. His supporters used the opportunity to click some ‘selfies’ with their leader.

After filing his nomination papers, Omar Wearing pheran (traditional Kashmiri gown used during winter), walked up to Beerwah Bus Stand, where he addressed a huge rally.
