SRINAGAR

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Wednesday evening said that there will be restrictions in old city areas of Srinagar on Thursday which marks the death anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat on February 11 apparently to thwart any protest.

Speaking to Kashmir Life, DC Srinagar, Dr Farooq Lone said, “there will be restrictions in the areas that fall under five police stations of Old Srinagar on 11 February (tomorrow).”

The police stations to be under restrictions are Nowhatta, Khanyar, Mahraj-gunj, Rainawari, Safa-Kadal besides Maisuma.

Pertinently, all the major separatist groups have called for complete shutdown tomorrow.

The district administration has in the past as well resorted to such measures fearing protests and has thus curbed the free movement of people living in old city.
