ADMITTED:

State government has admitted before the High court that some people are in possession of hundreds of kanals of land without proper allotment in the famed Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir. The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) in its status report has stated that notices have been issued to 31 persons for occupying more land than leased while eviction notices have gone to 11 persons to vacate the land in 21 days. The report reveals that land has been occupied without any authority while others have stretched the original allotment to hundreds of kanals illegally.

DIED:

3-year-old Faheem Asgar Lone whose body was fished out in May this year from Wullar in north Kashmir after his mysterious disappearance in the native old City had died of drowning, police said. Police concluded the death of Faheem Asgar Lone son of Firdous Hassan of Ghat Nowpora  Khaniyar Srinagar as accidental drowning. Faheem went missing on May 6 evening when he was playing with his mother. On May 20 morning, his body was spotted in a Wullar water channel.

 

NAILED DOWN:

An official panel has indicted the Muslim Wakf Board for committing administrative and financial lapses. It has pinpointed how Board authorities were misusing official position to benefit their relatives and friends at the cost of Wakf assets. The three-member committee, constituted in November 2012 to conduct a special audit, has revealed that the Board was neck-deep in financial and administrative crisis and that the very constitution of the Board was not in line with the J&K Board for Specified Wakfs and Specified Wakf Properties Act. The 104-page report states that a member of the Board had allotted shop No: 31 at Boulevard Complex to one of his relatives with a special incentive.

KILLED:

1 BSF personnel was killed while 3 others were seriously injured when Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing along the International Border (IB) in forward area of R S Pura in Jammu, an Indian Army hand-out says. In the heavy firing, 4 civilians who were working in their fields were also injured. The incident has sent a wave of fear among the villagers as it is a paddy sowing season and most of the villagers are busy working in their fields close to the IB.

ARRESTED:

Police arrested Ajaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ali Lone of Muthi Marmat, the main accused of the murder case, who was evading his arrest for the past sometime. The accused was wanted in a case registered under FIR number 125/14 under Section 302/34 RPC at police station Doda. The accused has been remanded to police custody by Judicial Magistrate Doda for further investigation of the case.

RE-DEVISED:

Indian Army re-devised its strategy to counter any threat from any  foreign militants along the Line of Control (LoC) in view of surge in militant activities in Pakistan and reports that some of them were shifting towards Pakistan side of the LoC for infiltration into India. The strategy was given a final touch during high level meeting headed by Army chief Gen Bikram Singh. Immediately after his return to New Delhi, the Army chief had briefed Surface Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on need to strengthen road network in the areas falling close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) along China borders.

ARRESTED:

A youth was stabbed in Nanak Nagar, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station. However, acting swiftly, police arrested all the four accused involved in the crime from Bakshi Nagar. In a fit of rage, Pravleen Singh attacked Jasanjot Singh with sharp edged weapon and later all the accused managed to escape from the spot. The victim to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he was undergoing treatment, when reports last came in.
