Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Monday said that trigger happy cops should be awarded stern punishment. Talking to CNS, Azad said that every time these cops kill an innocent youth, SIT is formed but no action is taken on the ground.

“These cops are not above law and everyone should be arrested and punished who kill innocent people,” Azad said adding that he was shocked to know that the youth killed in Narbal was first arrested and then shot dead.

Azad said that State Government should learn lessons from the incidents that occurred in 2010.

“That year no action was taken against the killers. Mufti should initiate stern action against the erring cops. I condemn the killing of innocent youth and I personally believe that nobody is above the law and every killer cop should face the music,” he said.

Responding to a question, Azad said that the political prisoners behind the bars should be released through a proper legal process.

“Why Mufti Government is trying to take credit for releasing these political prisoners. It is the law of land that arrests and releases these political prisoners,” he said adding that no politics should be played over detention or release of political prisoners in Kashmir.

To another question, Azad said that the new recruitment policy will not going to help unemployed youth but contrary it is going to help Ministers and all those in power to adjust their kith and kin in different government departments.

“The present government has disappointed everyone as the people who are at the helm of affairs in the government are busy in framing policies meant for the benefit of their relatives,” he said.
