Yasir-Google

For 22-year-old Yasir Zahoor Rather, a BTech in Computer Science from C T Group of Institutions, achievements are just another way to stay happy. And there are many to Yasir’s credit. At such a young age Yasir is already an engineer, a digital marketer, professional speaker, trainer and an entrepreneur. Yasir journey started when he was in the 7th semester of his B Tech in early 2015. With the help of a few partners, Yasir founded India’s first online sports megastore: www.sportingcart.com. The sports portal was originally started as GAMBIG INC. that deals in sports and fitness related products online. “We not only sell on www.sportingcart.com but have the partnership with Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal,” says Yasir proudly.

Yasir has a team of 20 people who take care of around 200 orders that come in every day. “Our monthly turnover is in lakhs,” claims Yasir.

The other achievements that Yasir likes to boast of include his association with Google as a trainer. “I train professionals in corporate offices, universities, and other institutions in India on behalf of Google digital marketing and Google Adwords,” says Yasir.

He is one of the only 5 Google Partner Academy Professional Trainers in India, and one of the youngest across the world at the age of 22.

“I was a computer geek since my teenage,” says Yaisr with a flash of a smile on his face. “I used my knowledge in the dynamic workplace.” Yasir believes that academic percentage in no way reflects one’s intellect.

In between his busy schedule, Yasir takes time off to talk about his recently out B Tech final year results. “My final semester result is just out. I have topped my University with 96.2 percent,” he says confidently.

During his stay at C T Institute of Engineering, Management and Technology in Jhalandhar, Punjab Yasir has been a Google student ambassador for 2013-14. Yasir was featured in a number of newspapers in Punjab for becoming Google student ambassador.

In February 2014, Yasir was a speaker at four National Security Conferences which were organized by Third Eye Ethical Hackers Corporation with area of Focus: “Google Products and their Security Features” where he trained more than 900 students. One major conference Yasir participated was held at Khalsa College for Women in Jalandhar in which more than 300 girl students participated.

The same year Yasir won Best Student Award by Indian Society of Technical Education. He also won best project award by Punjab Technical University (PTU) in 2015.

In 2013, Yasir was awarded by Google Maps India as Top Contributor. “I have been active throughout my stay in Jhalandhar, Punjab. I am the founder of Entrepreneurship Cell in my college,” says Yasir.

In 2013, Yasir was selected for online marketing lab by Google at company’s Gurgaon office. “It was my doorway to world full of new beginnings,” says Yasir.

Yasir is passionate about speaking to large audiences and training people. He has been invited as a speaker and trainer in various National & International Conferences. “I am ready to knock down the setbacks and rejections that I went through in my life,” says Yasir. “You have to believe in your dreams to turn them into reality.”

But Yasir is quick to add that whatever he has achieved in his life is because of his supportive parents. “My father has been a constant support,” says Yasir. “He has supported me in all my endeavors and backed all my decisions. I cannot have achieved anything without his positive attitude.”

Before wrapping up Yasir quickly adds that he wants to thank his brother Pervaiz Ahmad Lone.
