The incarcerated senior Hurriyat (g) leader and Chairperson Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah Tuesday paid glowing tributes to Bijbehara’s slain militants: Sartaj Ahmad Lone, Adil Ahmad Sheikh and Tanveer Ahmad Bhat.

In a statement issued to press, Shabir Ahmad Shah said, “these martyrs are giving new direction to the freedom movement.”

Shah reiterated pledge of “taking the mission of martyrs to its goal” saying we are indebted to the sacrifices rendered by them.

On the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, a delegation led by Manzoor Ahmad Ghazi which included Ghulam Rasool and others participated in the funeral procession and prayers of martyrs and paid tributes to them, the statement said.

He also paid tributes to Khwaja Sanaullah Bhat on his 6th anniversary saying “the deceased led his whole life while upholding higher value”.

“Khwaja Sahib infused new spirit in journalism in Kashmir by updating it at par with the modern lines,” he said.

The DFP chairperson while condemning the arrest spree across the state said the government “had made life of youth hell”.

Shah expressed strong resentment over the nocturnal raids of youth in Palhallan and the arrest of students saying the “Mufti Sayeed led government is playing with the careers of youth in order to save his own chair”.

The statement further said that Shah reminded Mufti Sayeed of “his promises during election time regarding the release of prisoners, revocation of draconian laws like PSA”. “After achieving power, they forgot all their promises and even surpassed all the records of previous tyrant regimes,” he said.

“Terming the martyrdom of trio as a great loss for the resistance movement,” the National Front statement reaffirmed that “martyrs sacrifices will be protected at any cost”. “These martyrs are the real heroes of the freedom struggle because it is their blood which infuses life into it,” the statement said adding, “so we must honour our martyrs by honouring their mission.”
