With continuous rains triggering fresh ‘flood threat’ in public, Minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju Wednesday downplayed and dismissed the threat as “hue and cry”.

“Situation is in control,” he said, “and we are prepared to handle it.”

Interestingly, the Centre has issued this statement at that time when Director MeT (J&K), Sonam Lotus said: “Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Tonight is crucial.”

Meanwhile, Rijiju said more teams will be send to Kashmir if need arises.
