Four teenagers from Sopore town were arrested on Tuesday in the frontier district of Kupwara when “they were heading towards the Line of Control (LoC) allegedly for crossing over to Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK)”.

A senior police officer told GNS that a tip off was received about some “youths trying to cross the fence for arms training there”.

He said, “police and army’s 6 RR successfully traced the boys and arrested them before they could ex-filtrate in Hafrooda forest area of Handwara.”

The official identified the Adil Nabi Rather (17), Tahir Ahmad Ganie (18), Ishfaq Ahmad Malik (18) and Aijaz Lone Krankshun Sopore. “They had fled from their homes on August 28 and are presently being questioned by SOG Sopore,” the official added.
