Police and army on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in Sopore Town of Baramulla district.

A police official said that militant namely Ubaid Untoo alias Faris who is accused in Hygam grenade blast in which an under trial militant Wahid Noor Khan and a policeman was killed was apprehended in a jointly along with army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles at a checkpoint in Chanakan area of the Town today.

Police said that the Naka was laid out after concrete information about the movement of the militant.  A case under FIR number 77/15 under sections 302, 307 RPC ¾ has been registered against him.

Police claim that Ubaid had handed over two grenades to the slain militant at Sopore Court. Besides the killing of the under trial Pakistan militant and a policeman, four other cops were injured in Hygam blast.
