A pall of gloom descended at Laden Village in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district after fifteen persons including five sisters, three brothers and their parents laid to rest at their native village on Tuesday morning.

One more person identified as Fasil Ahmad, ninth children of Ghulam Nabi Hajam, is still missing.

Reports reaching GNS said that on wee hours today, three more bodies were recovered from the site where the mudslide hit four residential houses in the village on Monday.

Later tens and thousands of people participated in the joint funeral of the deceased who include among others 24 days infant and his parents.

The incident has already sent shocking waves across the Valley and most of those who participated in the funeral were seen weeping.

Pertinently, sixteen persons were killed after their houses came under mudslide at Laden villageon Monday.

Those laid to rest have been identified as eight siblings including five sisters Naseema (18) and Shugufta (15), Bisma (9), Shahida (16), Fareeda (14) and three brothers Bilal Ahmad (13), Mohammad Iqbal (12) and Reyaz Ahmad (22) and their parents Ghulam Nabi Hajam, Zaina Begium. Others include Mohammad Shaban, his wife Ruksana (21), their son Mohammad Aslam (24 days) and two sisters of Mohammad Shaban, Shehmeeza (9) and Naseema (18)(daughters of Laldin).
