SRINAGAR: Within days after the Chief Minister’s express directions for immediate revival of the existing schemes, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has approved 619 cases of aspiring entrepreneurs under different entrepreneurship development schemes today.

The 102nd Steering Committee Meeting of Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) and 49th of Youth Startup Loan Scheme (YSLS) were held under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Labour & Employment Department Shaleen Kabra. The meeting was also attended by Director Employment Department Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Dr. M. I. Parray, Director JKEDI, Vice-President (A&AP), J&K Bank Fayaz Ahmad, experts from the Department of Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Industries Department.

The Steering Committee meeting was held after the intervention of Chief Minister, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, who earlier this month convened a high level meeting of officers to redress the issues and grievances put forth by the entrepreneurs trained by JKEDI under its different schemes.

Out of 598 cases placed before the Committee under Seed Capital Fund Scheme, 563 related to sectors like manufacturing, services and agri-allied were approved.  Decision in respect of 35 cases was deferred as more clarifications were sought by the Steering Committee. These cases will be considered in the next Steering Committee meeting scheduled on June 1.

Under Youth Startup Loan Scheme, out of 57 cases placed before the Committee, 56 were approved. Decision in respect of one case was deferred for want of certain clarification.
