jkWith a view to facilitate unhindered banking transactions to the people of valley who are already under stress because of devastating floods, all the Business Units and Extension Counters of J&K Bank across valley shall remain open on 3rd  (Friday) and 5th  (Sunday)October, which are otherwise public holidays under Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.

In order to avoid inconvenience likely to be caused to the bank’s customers on account of consecutive holidays on 2nd, 3rd and 6th, 7th October 2014, the bank has decided to carry on its normal business in Kashmir valley on both days (Friday and Sunday).

All these business units and extension counters shall observe working hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and business hours10:00 AM to 4:00 PM during these days.

Moreover, in association with Help Poor Voluntary Trust the bank is organizing a mega ‘Free Medical Camp’ for the flood affected at Iqbal Park, Srinagar from 2nd October to 5thOctober. Free medicines shall also be provided at the camp besides medical consultations from senior doctors of the valley.

Meanwhile, the Bank conducted an awareness camp in Government Higher Secondary School for Boys at Mandi District Poonch. The Bank’s Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling center Poonch organised the camp which was attended by the students and staff of the school and was presided over by the school Principal Kamal Ratan Verma.

Welcoming the participants, Facilitator FLCC Kuldeep Kumar spoke about the saving habit and its advantage to the students and asked them to open their accounts at their nearest bank branches. He also talked about the education loan scheme in detail which he said was tailored for them to realize their aspirations for higher studies.

Lead District Manager, Poonch, M Shafi Ayaz explained the importance of financial literacy and credit counseling and interacted with the participants with regard to various banking facilities. The aim of the bank is to make everybody bankable and we have come with this mission here, he said.

Principal of the School Kamal Ratan Verma thanked the bank for organizing the camp in the institute and described it very informative. He requested the Bank for organizing another camp in the school exclusively for the staff working there.

A quiz session was also held during the camp wherein the participants were given prizes.
