Authorities on Sunday flew a senior police officer, who was injured in a militant attack on Friday, to New Delhi’s Apollo Hospital for specialized treatment.

A senior police official told GNS that the Station House Officer (SHO) Pattan, Inspector Mohammad Salim Mir was today airlifted to New Delhi’s New Delhi’s Apollo hospital for specialized treatment from the SKIMS, Soura, where he was referred on Friday last after being injured in a surprise militant attack.

Prior to SKIMS, Mir was treated by the doctors at the army’s 92 Base Hospital here.

Besides Mir, two policemen and a cab driver were wounded when militant opened fire at them at a checkpoint at Mirgund along the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway during a Naka. After the attack, the militants had managed to flee from the spot.

Meanwhile, government forces for the third consecutive day today continued searches in several areas of North Kashmir to nab the militants involved in the attack.
