Finance and Employment Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu Thursday told the agitating casual and daily wagers that he will frame a policy for adjustment of 64000 un-regularized employees of state.

After receiving a heart throbbing welcome from J&K Casual and daily wagers association in Pratap Park, Dr Haseeb Drabu said, “I am a part of this society and I can’t see this situation of yours.”

He said that the issue of 64000 un-regularized employees pertains to 64k families. “It is a humanitarian issue,” he told the gathering adding, “I will be framing a policy which will take two-three months for adjustment of these employees.”

“There are huge liabilities by last government; our treasuries are empty,” he said. However, he was fast to add, “I am concerned as I can’t see our youth in this situation. My government is worried and I promise you will be adjusted in your departments by our government.” He said that a society which i facing such a problem can’t move forward.

Drabu further said that the government is facing a financial crunch, however, he is “setting the house in order”. “We are in a process to clean the system,” he said adding, “at least there rare 13-15 kinds of un-regularized employments including ad-hoc, contractual, casual and daily wager.”

Drabu, however, asserted the protesting employees that he will only frame a policy. “I cannot foretell you what the cabinet decision would be,” he said. “I will not promise you what I can’t do but, yes, I will frame a road map as how to adjust, phase wise, the un-regularized employees.”

Following the minister’s assurance of framing the policy, the protesting employees ended their strike.

Dr Haseeb A Drabu held a meeting the with agitating employees at civil secretariat yesterday. The protesting employees had threatened of “secretariat Gheroa”.
