The state authorities Wednesday banned a seminar being organized by Hurriyat (g).
Reports and sources said that police detained Syed Ali Geelani’s deputy and senior Islamist figure in Hurriyat camp, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai. Sehrai is Secretary General Tehreek-e-Hurriyat which was formed after Geelani and Sehrai parted ways from Jama’at-e-Islami.
A few of Hurriyat (g) constituents had earlier decided to hold a seminar at a local hotel in Srinagar, however, it was not allowed at the eleventh hour.
The Hurriyat activists later shifted the venue of seminar to Hyderpora but it was not allowed, again.
