SRINAGAR

The 300-km Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface link connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of world, continued to remain closed for the fourth consecutive day Thursday following heavy rain and snowfall in the area.

Traffic control room sources said that a portion of a hill collapsed at Kheri, Udhampur due to incessant rains thereby blocking the Highway.

They said that the overnight rains have resulted in fresh landslides in Ramban area thereby forcing the authorities to suspend the traffic on the highway for the fourth day today.

As per IGP, traffic BRO men and machinery are working on war footing to clear the landslides and throw open the highway for one way traffic.

Meanwhile, the vehicular traffic on Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar road also continues to remain closed for the fourth day due to landslide at Kheri in Udhampur district.
