Condemning the detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists, massive presence of forces in many areas, and placing curbs on the movement of the people on the death anniversaries of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Wednesday said at a time when people were paying tributes to their “martyred leaders” on their anniversaries, “the state administration was stopping aborting these programme and stopping these people by using dictatorial, fascist and brute force in an undemocratic manner”.

An APHC-m spokesperson said, “senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza had been arrested and held at Police Station Sher Bagh, Islamabad while another senior Hurriyat leader Hilal Ahmad War had been placed under house arrest while scores of youth had also been rounded off ahead of the martyrdom anniversaries of Bhat and Guru.”

Stressing that by using brute force on the people, “Kashmir’s resistance movement cannot be crushed”, the spokesperson said, “people cannot be stopped from paying tributes and expressing solidarity with the martyred leaders of the on-going resistance struggle.”

Stating that the “martyred leaders of the ongoing resistance movement and thousands of other Kashmiris had sacrificed their lives for the greater cause of Kashmir resolution”, the APHC-m spokesperson added, “these sacrifices had been offered for taking the issue to its logical conclusion and for that it was necessary to solve the issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.”
