“Besides Geelani Sahib dozens of other Hurriyat leaders and activists were either house arrested or detained in the different police stations including senior pro-freedom leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Altaf Ahmad Shah were placed under house arrest while Ayaz Akbar, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Firdous Ahmad Shah and Hakeem Abdul Rasheed were detained in different police stations and they too were denied to perform their religious duties,” he said.

While terming the today’s police action as an act of “state terrorism and interference into the religious affairs” of the Kashmiri people, Hurriyat Conference (G) condemned it in strong words and alleged that the Jammu & Kashmir has turned into a police state and the law and order has practically been suspended here.

“Today morning police called in more deployment of its personals at Hyderpora and surrounded the residence of Geelani Sahib where already a heavy police vehicle is standing blocking the main entrance gate of the Hurriyat chairman,” the spokesman said.

While terming the recent statement of police chief that ‘Geelani Sahib is a free man’ as a Himalayan lie, he said, “Geelani Sahab was put under continuous house detention after he participated in the Tral rally and from then his political as well as his social and religious activities has been completely restricted. The only purpose behind this huge lie is to create confusion among the general masses about the Geelani Sahab’s house arrest policy of the state government and it is a deliberate attempt.”

“Today two additional police vehicles were placed outside the residence of Geelani Sahab to prevent him from offering the Friday prayers. After coming into alliance with the communal party of India it seems that Mufti Sahab will broke all the previous records of brutality and atrocities and he will write a new chapter in the Kashmir’s history of oppression,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, on the appeal of Geelani, despite strict restrictions the people everywhere in the Valley peacefully protested against the inhuman verdict of the Egypt government against the democratically elected president of that country Dr Mohammad Morsi and dozens of other people.

“The people came out on the roads after the Friday prayers and staged a peaceful protest demonstration and expressed their sympathy with the Dr Morsi who has been sentenced to death along with many other companions. The police tried a lot from the yesterday evening to thwart this protest program of the hurriyat conference and they conducted raids and arrested almost entire hurriyat leadership but despite all this pressure and force, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference took out protest marches from every district headquarters of the state,” the spokesman said.

“Hurriyat Conference took out a huge protest march from the Haji Masjid Maisuma Srinagar led by senior leader Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Mohammad Shafi Lone and Syed Imtiyaz Hyder in which the hurriyat conference leaders and activists Mehraj-ud-din Rabbani, Ishfaq Ahmad, Mudasir Nadvi, Zaffar Habib, Rameez Raja, Umar Adil Dar and Gazi Javaid also participated. While as Tehreek-e-Hurriyat provincial president Amir Hamza took out a similar protest rally from Jamia Masjid Dangarpora Chadoora, Hafiz Bashir Ahmad Farooqi led the protesters in Chandipora Bijbihara, Mir Hafizullah in Markazi Jamia Masjid Kokarnag, Mohammad Yousuf Falahi in Shangus Islamabad (Anantnag), Shakih Mohammad Ramzan in Mattan Islamabad, Rayees Ahmad Mir in Ajas Bandipora, Salman Yousuf in Hajan Bandipora, Mohammad Amin Ahangar in Shopian, Ghulam Mohammad Tantray took out protest march from Baitul Muqaram Baramullah and Abdul Gani Bhat led the protesters in main chowk Sopore. The protesters raised slogans in favour of Morsi Sahab and appealed the international human rights organizations to use their influence for revoking his death punishment,” he added.
