The family of Asiya and Neelofar of South Kashmir’s Shopian Sunday staged a peaceful sit-in amid polling in Shopian.
Reports said that the family of duo – Asiya and Neelofar who were allegedly first raped and then murdered in 2009 – staged a peaceful sit-in at Gol Chowk Shopian after which they left the spot.
Meanwhile, reports coming from South Kashmir said that a Presiding Officer was injured in stone pelting.
The reports said that a vehicle carrying polling staff came under heavy stone pelting near Sarnal in which the officer got injured.
“Due to stone attack, Presiding Officer namely Muhammad Lateef sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital,” they said.
The reports added, “Lateef was nominated as Presiding Officer for polling station number 53 Sarnal Bala.”
