After the Eid prayers were over, a group of slogan-shouting youth assembled in the main square and engaged cops in a brick-bating incident. Police used force and opened pellet guns too.
Reports said that the youth shouting pro-Azaadi slogans attacked cops and paramilitary men who were deployed around. They threw stones on them and in retaliation, police burst a series of tear-smoke shells. As it failed to control the small group of youth, police said, they did use pellets.
A couple of youth have received pellet injuries and were evacuated to the hospitals. Police confirmed that they have not been able to arrest any of the stone pelters but they have recorded evidences against them. “We have identified most of them,” a police official said.
