Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid Sunday assailed the statement of senior PDP leader and Member Parliament from Baramulla seat Muzaffar Hussain Baig that West Pakistan refugee issue should be resolved in humane manner.
“The stand of PDP on West Pakistan Refugee and other burning issues has badly exposed them and well before forming government with BJP, they look all set to make compromises on every issue including article 370,” Rashid said. “PDP leader Muzafar Baig invoking Quran and Sunnah to settle West Pakistan refugee issue reflects his hypocrisy as he forgets the same when religious freedom of Muslims is curtailed by barring them from offering Friday and Eid prayers. Even Milad and Zuljina processions are barred in Kashmir.”
Rashid also castigated Baig for “confusing the issue of Green card in Europe with these refugee issue”. “In Europe after passing every credential and for rendering valuable services a person is given green card, while as in India there are no such laws,” he said. “If Government of India is serious it should devise a law and settle these refugees in other parts of India as constitution of J&K Does not allow the same. Let Muzaffar Baig bring legislation in Parliament to settle these refugees in other part of India. Its series of compromises, PDP has forgotten its self rule slogan as well.”
If reports in a local daily that these refugees voted in last Assembly elections are true than it is a matter of grave concern for every voice of conscience, Rashid said.
