Women from neighbouring areas of Sempora Monday assembled on the banks of River Jhelum and eulogised the militants engaged in the gunfight with government forces in EDI siege.

Scores of women turned up on the riverbank and sang the songs of bravery and resistance for the militants: “Saani Qoam ki Bahaduru, Karyo Goor Gooro…oo…(O’ brave hearts of our nation, We lull you…”

Earlier, the neighbouring Pampore defied restrictions and erupted in protests. The youth tried to take out a march toward the encounter site. Already, the police have issued a summon to public barring them to move near or around the encounter site.

Meanwhile, forces used rockets and mortar shells to “flush out” the holed-up militants—believed to be trapped in an attic.
