National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah chaired the Party Core Group meeting at Srinagar on Monday. The meeting was also attended by NC Working President Omar Abdullah besides senior Party leaders who constitute the party’s Core Group. This was the first Core Group Meeting chaired by Dr. Farooq following his return to the State after recuperating from a surgery he underwent recently.
In a statement, spokesman of the party said the Core Group offered fateha and paid glorious tributes to NC stalwart and former General Secretary Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed and said his sacrifices and services for the party would be remember for ages to come and that his demise had created a void that would be hard to fill.
“The meeting also offered Fateha and paid glorious tributes to veteran NC leader and former minister Haji Abdul Gani Shah Veeri and said in Veeri’s demise the party had lost a faithful, pro-people and patriotic voice. The Core Group expressed solidarity with late Veeri’s family especially his son and MLC Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri for their loss,” he said.
Dr. Farooq reviewed the organizational matters of the past two months and also reviewed various political developments in the State. The leaders spoke about various points pertaining to the organization and the political scenario in the State. The Core Group Meeting will resume and be concluded tomorrow following which a detailed press statement will be issued elaborating on the discussions and conclusions made in the meeting.
