Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Dr Syed Aabid Rashid Friday termed rumours that some water sources of PHE Islamabad in some villages of Shangus have been poisoned as baseless.
He said that last night rumours were spread that drinking water in Shangus has been poisoned. He said the district administration immediately swung into action and a team of experts were sent to collect samples which were later tested at Bumzoo Testing Lab Islamabad and water was found fit for use.
Dr Aabid further said that a manhunt has been launched to nab rumour mongers. He appealed people not to panic and don’t give any heed to any hearsay.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer PHE Division Bijbehara under whose jurisdiction the said area falls said that all the water reservoirs were emptied today for cleaning purposes and safe water is being provided to the people of the area.
