The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners of the Valley to speed up the assignment of assessment of losses and submit the report to the government as early as possible, so that the necessary relief is provided to the flood affected people.

As per a statement Divisional Commissioner took stock of post flood situation in district Budgam  at an officers’ meeting on Thursday, where he was informed by the Deputy  Commissioner, Budgam, Manzoor Ahmad Lone that out of 8 tehsils of  Budgam, 5 tehsils including Baghat-i-Kanipora, Narbal, Magam, Beerwah were affected. He said out of 154 villages 85 villages were submerged.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that 37085 families of the district were affected most of them were from Baghat-i-Kanipora. He said that 99 percent power supply has been restored in the district while as out of 99 affected water supply schemes 97 have been restored.

The officials were also informed that 15000 quintals ration @ 50 kg were provided to the flood affected families besides 12700 blankets, 551 tents and 950 solar lights.

He also informed that 5712 structures which includes 1277 pacca houses and 291 Kacha houses, 2251 cow sheds and 1209 other structures and 671 were damaged in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that Rs. 26 lakh have been provided to the owners of 352 damaged houses as an interim relief so far.
