Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan has asked the banks operating in valley to revisit their security scenario and carry an audit to plug any loopholes in the system.

The directions came in the wake of recent cases of bank robberies at branches of Jammu Kashmir Bank in a meeting held here today.

IGP Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani was also present in the meeting.

Divisional Commissioner directed representatives of different banks operating in Kashmir to identify the vulnerable branches and immediately improve the security apparatus. He also directed them to adhere to the guidelines as far as security measures are concerned.

On the issue of gun licenses, Divisional Commissioner told the banks that licenses would be issued for procurement of guns to the banks within three days of submitting their documents.

IGP, Kashmir also highlighted the importance of Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) in prevention and detection of crime and said that modern gadgets will help in strengthening the security system of banks. JK Police will provide all necessary support to improve the security of banks, he added.
