Just after hours India and Pakistan held battalion commander level talks, the troopers of both sides again exchanged firing along the international border (IB) in Jammu on Thursday. However, as usual both the sides have started accusing one another of violating ceasefire.

Official sources said that Pakistan Rangers fired with small arms and medium machine guns in the Pargwal sector first at 11.50 pm on Wednesday for a brief period. It again started firing at about 4 am on Thursday early morning which continued till 6am. Three BSF posts were fired at. India also retaliated in calibrated manner.

The Pargwal sector, which was not affected by recent firing, was chosen to hold the first meeting along the borders on Wednesday.

In the sectoral level meeting, India reportedly lodged strong protests over the ‘unprovoked’ firing. Pakistan in turn said the level of meetings should be scaled up to senior officer level.
