Muslims in summer capital on Friday are holding a unity-cum-freedom rally.

Reports said that hundreds of members of Sunnis and Shias marched through interiors of Zadibal in Old Srinagar.

Hurriyat Conference (m) leader Masroor Abbas Ansari is leading the rally while many other respected personalities of both the sects are expected to address it.

Reports said that the rally started soon after congregational Friday prayers ended in Zadibal and adjoining areas.

“The rally hold significance in view of the current uprising,” a participant of the rally said. “Many such rallies were held in last 84 days.”

The rally started from Sazgari Pora while as Masroor Abbas is addressing it this time at Baba Mazaar, reports informed.

“The freedom rally doesn’t belong to a particular sect,” Masroor said, “every people from every sect and region is seeking right to self determination.”

Notably, government disallowed mandatory congregational Friday prayers in historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar today for twelfth consecutive Friday today as curfew has been imposed in several areas of the summer capital in view of the Lal Chowk ‘Chalo’ call by the resistance leadership.
