Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday informed President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on “surgical strikes” across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian defence ministry claimed that army troops carried out a “surgical operation” on the other side of the LoC “inflicting casualties”.
However, Pakistan has denied any such “violation of its territory” adding, “India is branding cross border fire as surgical strikes.” Pakistan said that their two soldiers were killed in “cross border firing”.
Reports said that Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N N Vohra, and Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti were also informed by Delhi about the “secret operation”.
