Following the death of two Pakistan soldiers in firing by Indian army on Line of Control, funeral prayers were offered in historic Jamia Masjid in Kashmir on Thursday evening.

Notably, Delhi said that its soldiers carried out “surgical strikes along the Line of Control inflicting damages” on the other side.

Reports and eye witnesses said that following an announcement through loudspeakers in Nowhatta area of Old Srinagar, people assembled in the premises of Jamia Masjid where they offered funeral prayers in absentia for the slain Pakistan Soldiers.

It may be reminded here that government disallowed mandatory congregational Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid for last eleven consecutive Fridays.

Meanwhile, Dawn.com reported that soldiers from the Indian army were killed in the episode of firing across the Line of Control. The news report referred to Capital Talk on Geo News, hosted by Hamid Mir saying that 14 Indian soldiers were killed in two sectors.

Futher, the news report quoting unnamed sources added, “an Indian soldier, Chandu Babulal Chohan, was taken into custody by Pakistani forces.” However, the news report said that there is as yet no official confirmation of this claim.
