In an attempt to foil pro-freedom rallies in two major towns in Bandipora and Ganderbal districts, authorities put in place severe restrictions on Wednesday. However, clashes erupted in one area.

Reports coming from Bandipora’s Hajin town said that clashes erupted near Khankah Masjid on after police and CRPF men foiled “Hajin Chalo”. The men in uniform vandalised the venue of a proposed rally in the main chowk.

Authorities had made huge deployment of police and paramilitary forces in Hajin today. They fired a number of teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes.

The resistance leadership had called for a march to Hajin today.

Meanwhile, strike restrictions were imposed in Wakura area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal today to foil a pro-freedom march called by resistance leadership.

The locals had erected a stage for the proposed rally yesterday but forces raided the village last evening destroying it and reports said that four youths were arrested from the area.

This morning, local reports said, huge deployment of forces was made to restrict movement of people.
