“PDP is the party of all and though it has in its people friendly agenda and promotion of interests of all sections of the society but youth constitutes the core of the PDP’s programme,” said Para.

Calling upon the youth to “ensure change on ground”, Para said, “the youth has an important role to play to transform the structure and ensure an accountable, transparent system on the ground. PDP is the only party having a youth related policy and the party will carry it forward and implement it.”

While concluding the meeting, Para said that the youth has been the “worst victim of Kashmir conflict and other political parties has not only been responsible for their plight but its anti-youth policies had become a hallmark of its governance during last six years”.

The youth leaders urged party leadership to reach out to the grass root level and various areas in the Kashmir.

In response, Para urged youth of the state to be part of the development processes and making of “prevailing local committees more active and functional”.

Referring to the youth, Para insisted them to help in “building the democratic structures and advised them not to get provoked into such actions which only lead to a vicious cycle of destruction”.

He added that the state has already lost a generation of youth to the conflict and can’t afford another generation to “fall prey to this vicious circle of violence as such tragic incidents only undermine the government’s efforts to restore peace in the State which has underwent a gory era of death and destruction for the past more than two decades”.
