Observing that Pakistan armed forces have rendered “supreme sacrifices” in the war against terrorism and “are also capable to face any threat from India”, Pakistan defence minister on Tuesday alleged that the Uri attack “was staged by India itself”.
“If India tries to do any misadventure, it would have to face dire consequences,” Khawaja Asif said in a news report published by Radio Pakistan. “Whole nation from Karachi to Gilgit is united to face any aggression.”
The minister said the Pakistan armed forces recently conducted a war exercise to prepare themselves to “counter any untoward situation”.
To a question, the Radio Pakistan report said, “Defence Minister said Uri attack was staged by India itself to divert attention from Indian atrocities and barbarism against the innocent Kashmiris in the occupied Kashmir.”
To another query related to MQM, he said, “Altaf Hussain has some connections with India as during his visit to India during the Musharraf regime he had showed his allegiance to India.”
At least 18 soldiers were killed and as many as 29 others injured in a suspected militant attack on September 18, 2016 morning in North Kashmir’s Uri. Four suspected attackers were too killed. Delhi blamed Islamabad for the deadliest attack on army.
