Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khan Sahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin Monday said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s offer to resolve Kashmir issue through a dialogue is “based on sincerity”, then New Delhi should start an unconditional and meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders in Kashmir without any further delay.

Reacting to Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in which he said, “peace, unity and harmony were the ways to resolve problems”, Hakim Yasin responded, “New Delhi should initiate a meaningful and time bound dialogue with all stakeholders including separatists at the earliest if it is sincere in its talks offer.”

“Unless the root cause of the problem, which is Kashmir issue is not addressed, the political uncertainty, would continue. Apparently the situation may improve for some time with cosmetic measures but in the long run, unless Kashmir problem isn’t addressed according to the aspirations of its people, the present situation will re-occur again and again,” the PDF chief warned.

The MLA Khan Sahib also lashed out at the PDP-BJP alliance for blaming the situation in not implementing its “Agenda of Alliance.”

“The PDP led government says effective implementation of the Agenda of the Alliance needs a congenial atmosphere within and around the State. PDP is in alliance with BJP which is ruling the Center. Then who is stopping them (PDP-BJP) from implementing the Agenda of Alliance if it all exists,” he asked.

Hakim Yasin said, “PDP justified its alliance with BJP by saying they did so to address the core issue of Kashmir. Where have its (PDP’s) promises of protecting the life and dignity of Kashmir’s gone. If (Kashmir) isn’t solved the uncertainty will increase and so will violence and killings. People are feeling insecure due to unnecessary killings and it is the duty of the government to instil confidence among the people.”

The PDF chief also lashed out at some “news channels” which he said were “creating war hysteria”.

“Kashmiris are the biggest victims of Indo-Pak hostilities. However, unfortunately some news channels were creating war hysteria and also portraying wrong image of Kashmir. I urge the government to block all such channels who were indulging in such activities,” he demanded.
